Fortuna Silver Mines boosted production by close to a third last year at its Mexico and Peru silver mines. Fortuna (NYSE:FM, TSE:FVI) said it produced 2.5 million ounces of silver in 2011, a 31% increase over 2010. Fortuna more than doubled its gold production to 7,000 ounces for a 174% increase over 2010.

Stock in Formation Metals (TSE:FCO) plunged 13% today after a European bank decided to terminate its loan agreement with the Vancouver-based company. The $79.5 million loan from BNP Paribas was to go towards construction of Formation's Idaho cobalt mine.
